New Jersey Black Market

Background

New Jersey is a build from the WarfGames Minecraft server, a server where the map size was limited to a 200x200 area. New Jersey was founded by NovaDelta. It got it's start as an underground black market for "illegal items" before finding a loophole in land claiming, claiming everything above Y=128 and later under Y=18. It then proceeded to gain a new member, Kaqet, as it set off on its goal of covering the entirety of the map in dirt, plunging the land below in darkness while stealing dirt from it in the process.

It's original name was "The New Jersey Supreme Court Black Market" before being shortened to "New Jersey Black Market" using just New Jersey as shorthand

Construction

Original construction began as a spiral staircase leading up to Y=128 where there was a small platform with a cobblestone generator, a mob farm, and some signs saying "New Jersey Black Market, Tresspassers will be executed".

With the addition of Kaqet, New Jersey started its expansion across the sky. The dirt guidance square was formed and more guiding lines drawn before dirt extraction began on the surface, mining out one chunk of dirt at a time leaving a barren stone floor. Before long, New Jersey was finished as a grass block was guided up and it became the big grass flat that it's known as today.

It also featured a work in progress wooden base that wouldve had a viewing hole to the suface below, as well as a carrot and wheat farm, the map's nether portal, two beds, as well as an enchanting setup.

One of New Jersey's long-term plans was to box in spawn with lavacasts coming off of the sides of the flat. However...

First Death

New Jersey started it's decline on September 10-14th, when Kaqet logged off with all of the useful resources (specifically iron) and became inactive on the server. Leading to things slowing to a standstill. The death-blow came when the server underwent a world expansion, quadrupling the size of the map. While plans to expand New Jersey were in motion, it didn't have enough momentum as the server itself started dying and becoming inactive. The last time NovaDelta logged on was September 16th. Actual WarfGames server death time is unknown.

Rebirth?

Much later, on the joint Warfname-Langley server, plans for New Jersey were underway to cover the entire area of the spawn with a gigantic Warfname logo to "show the flag". However, the scope of the project was too big and didn't go past the materials collection and guiding lines stage.

Another Rebirth?

On Warfname Season 5, New Jersey was built at Y=192 in the main town. It didn't have as much importance as the original but it served its basic purpose of covering the town and annoying everyone. It was built one chunk at a time. The project was eventually abandoned as Project Soyuz became more important.
